Serving Melanin Collective
Oakland-born, Richmond-raised, CieraJevae is the founder and Executive Director of Serving Melanin Collective.
Deeply rooted in her passion for social justice, CieraJevae, a renowned spoken word artist, dedicated high school educator, and published author, has devoted her life to empowering Black and Brown girls. Drawing on over a decade of experience working with girls of color through healing and arts-based programming, she founded Serving Melanin Collective, an aspiring 501c3 nonprofit. Today, Serving Melanin Collective provides comprehensive support and exclusive programming to foster a nurturing environment where Black and Brown girls can thrive.
A trailblazer in her community, CieraJevae is the first Black woman to hold the esteemed title of Poet Laureate of Richmond, CA. Her powerful voice and impactful work have graced the stages of organizations like The Innocence Project, Voices for Justice, Youth Speaks, Making Waves, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation, and various universities across the nation.
