About CieraJevae

Artist ✦ Educator ✦ Community Advocate

Oakland-born, Richmond-raised, CieraJevae is the founder of Serving Melanin Collective, an artist-educator, activist, community advocate, published author, and a past Poet Laureate of Richmond, CA. Her work ranges from the beauty of Black love, survivorhood, Black feminism, freedom delayed & denied of Black folks behind bars, and the woes and wisdom of education.

CieraJevae has performed for organizations and institutions such as The Innocence Project, Voices for Justice, Youth Speaks, Making Waves, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Kristi Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation, UC Santa Cruz, University of Pikeville, Western Illinois University, and more. Unto Ivy’s Rib

CieraJevae’s recent book, Unto Ivy's Rib is a map of poetry to guide you into yourself. The book is a collection of poems dedicated to CieraJevae’s little sister Ivy, exploring the lived experiences of Black women and girls through love, joy, pain, trauma, and spirituality.

Forthcoming Book: And All My Flowers

In And All My Flowers, survivors reclaim their power and honor one another's stories. Through raw, unflinching verse, this collection explores the depths of trauma and the unwavering strength found in sisterhood. Some poems bear the names of flowers, tributes to fellow survivors who have blossomed through adversity. Every poem is a petal unfurling, a testament to resilience, and a love letter to healing.
